The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has conducted 1,924 transactions through its Land Transport Sector in second quarter of this year.
The Ministry of Transport yesterday announced, on its Twitter account, the completion of 1,924 transactions by Land Transport Sector in 2022.
Out of the total 1,924 transactions; 783 were related to land transport licensing and quality assurance, 636 related to land transport planning and 505 transactions were related to traffic engineering and road safety.
According to a previous report, MoT had conducted 6,657 transactions through its Land Transport Sector in 2021. In 2021, out of the total 6,657 transactions; 3639 were related to land transport licensing, 2677 related to land transport planning and 341 transactions were related to traffic engineering and road safety.
The Land Transport Planning of the Land Transport Sector sets the general planning policy for land and railway transport activities. It preparing the necessary studies and design plans, as well as planning the construction and development of land and railway transport networks in coordination with the relevant authorities in the State of Qatar. It identifies the licensing requirements and fees of land and railway transport activities.
The Land Transport Licensing enforces the provisions of the legislations and regulations of land and railway transport and also sets the rules and taking the decisions governing the land and railway transport services.
It receives and reviews and approves licence applications submitted by land and railway transport service providers.
It also checks the means of land transport for compliance with the set specifications, in cooperation with relevant authorities in the State of Qatar, according to details on MoT website.
The Traffic Engineering and Road Safety of the Road Transport Sector prepares studies on traffic movement and traffic jams in coordination with the Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior.
Preparing studies and data analysis of traffic accidents, determining their causes and proposing appropriate solutions as well as proposing road safety measures in coordination with the concerned administrative units are its jobs.
It coordinates with stakeholders to achieve the highest rates of road safety and reducing accidents and manages traffic control systems and traffic signals, in coordination with the concerned parties.
Land transport has become a key enabler of the Qatari economy and a cornerstone of its growth, and the Land Transport Sector continues its efforts to develop a state-of-the-art transport network in line with the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030, MoT said.
