DFI announces casting call, submissions for fall grants

Doha: The Doha Film Institute  (DFI) has announced its open casting call and film funding this fall to support filmmakers in their storytelling endeavours. 

The casting call is open to everyone, regardless of age and nationality.

“Calling all talented actors and actresses of all ages and nationalities, we’re looking for you for our upcoming film productions! Actors should be available to join regular rehearsals and participate in post-production and production,” said the Institute in an Instagram post.

Interested applicants should send an email to [email protected] with the subject title “Casting”, and include a recent photograph, previous acting experiences with links, contact information including e-mail and mobile number, full name, nationality, age, languages spoken, and a copy of Qatar ID.

The Institute also announced that the submission for the Grants Programme on Film, TV, and Web Series will be open from June 24 to July 4. 

This is in support to emerging voices from Qatar and around the world, and provide them with creative and financial assistance so they can translate their stories into viable film and serialised content. 

Financial support is available in two ways: the Doha Film Institute Grants Programme and Doha Film Institute Co-Financing. 

The Doha Film Institute Grants Programme provides development, production and post-production funding to filmmakers from Qatar, and first- and second-time filmmakers from around the world. While the Doha Film Institute Co-Financing invests in film production through strategic partnerships with film projects.

Moreover, the Institute said that they focus on the growth and evolution of Qatar’s film community includes providing creative and logistical support, as well as financial contribution to filmmakers from Qatar.
