DOHA: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has dispatched patrols to the picnicking places in nature reserves and wilderness areas to ensure the safety of visitors and preserve the local ecosystem during Eid Al Fitr holidays.

As part of its commitment to environmental protection, sustainability, and enhancing communication with the public, the MECC will be receiving all complaints, reports, and environmental violations during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, 24/7, through the unified hotline (16066).

The Ministry wished a joyful and pleasant Eid Al Fitr holiday, while encouraging everyone to preserve a safe and sustainable environment for all.

It called upon everyone to uphold their shared responsibility towards the environment by preserving the beauty of terrestrial and marine areas, ensuring our natural heritage remains sustainable for future generations.

“When visiting wilderness areas, adhere to the environmentally friendly practices, such as preserving plants and trees and disposing of waste in designated areas. These practices reflect our responsibility towards the environment,” the Ministry added.

“Adhering to environmental guidelines and instructions is a fundamental step that reflects our responsibility towards the environment and strengthens our efforts to maintain ecological balance and achieve sustainable development.

“Adhering to environmental guidelines and instructions during visits to islands helps protect the biodiversity of the Qatari environment. Preserving the marine environment is a collective responsibility that contributes to safeguarding rich marine ecosystems and enhancing unique biodiversity.

“Let us all strive to leave a positive impact that reflects our respect for nature. During your visit to Sealine Beach and Khor Al Udaid, please adhere to environmental guidelines and maintain cleanliness to help protect the marine environment and enhance biodiversity,” it said.

Khor Al Udaid Reserve showcases the magnificent beauty of nature, with golden sand dunes adorning its horizon. The reserve serves as a distinctive model of unique biodiversity, contributing to the balance of coastal and desert ecosystems.

The unique natural ecosystem of Khor al Udaid holds special significance and attraction, featuring high sand dunes, a mix of terrain and environmental factors creating natural habitats that support unique animal and plant species. This has led to the development of a unique landscape and ecosystem exclusive to Qatar, desiring the highest levels of natural environmental protection.

With a big focus on conservation, protected areas make up more than 23% of Qatar’s land area. There are many beautiful nature and marine reserves to explore, where visitors can learn about rare species, spot over 300 types of birds and explore marine life.

Qatar nature reserves boast intriguing and diverse ecosystems where visitors can connect with nature, including peaceful desert landscapes, limestone cliffs, lush mangroves, and a coastline that’s vibrant with marine life. From sand to sea, there are fascinating fauna and flora.
