As Qatar continues its rapid development, the importances of green spaces and public parks have been very vital. These lush, well-maintained areas serve not only as havens of relaxation and leisure for residents and visitors but also play a crucial role in environmental sustainability, public health, and social cohesion. Recognizing their significance, the Qatar has undertaken ambitious projects to expand urban greenery and protect the natural environment. The Ministry of Municipality in cooperation with Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Wednesday opened three parks – Al Wakra Public Park, Al Mashaf Park, and Rawdat Egdaim Park. The opening of these parks comes within the framework of implementing the Ministry of Municipality’s 2023-2024 strategy, which is based on enhancing environmental sustainability, expanding green spaces, and providing integrated recreational facilities that contribute to raising the quality of life and are in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 according to Director General of Al Rayyan Municipality Mansour Ajran Al Buainain. Efforts in this regard are continuing based on the state’s awareness that public parks provide a much-needed escape from the fast-paced urban environment serving as gathering areas for families in safe surroundings. Parks also encourage physical activity, contributing to improved public health by promoting exercise and reducing stress. In addition to their social and recreational benefits, green spaces are essential for environmental sustainability, particularly in a country known for its arid climate, the presence of parks, gardens, and tree-lined streets helps mitigate the effects of extreme temperatures, improve air quality, and support biodiversity. The Qatari government has been implementing sustainable landscaping techniques, including the use of native plant species and water-efficient irrigation systems, to ensure that greenery flourishes despite the challenges posed by the desert environment. Greener cities, healthier communities, and a sustainable future for all, and the society receiving the services must make good use of these facilities and maintain them because they exist for the people of the country.
