‘Doha the shining star of Arab tourism’

Doha: Commending the selection of Qatar as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2023 tourism industry officials said the latest recognition adds another feather in Qatar’s cap,a stimulus to tourism.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Doha Hotel Manager Emre Kocamustafaogullari said with FIFA 2022, Qatar opened a new vision to the entire world that the world cup can be organised in the Middle East in a totally different season compared to previous world cups and in the same location which was very convenient for players, referees, organizers and of course the supporters. This is a huge reference that Doha is well deserving to be the shining star of Arab Tourism Capital surrounded with the latest technology and newest trends.

Saraya Corniche Hotel, Director of Operation Bryan Tambis said being a hotelier counting over 19 years in the GCC hospitality industry including eight years in Doha he had witnessed the warm hospitality of Doha and Qatar as a nation. 

The authentic culture, diversity of tourism and the development is truly remarkable in the tourism sector. After the successful hosting of the FIFA world cup, the world had experienced our hospitality and I am proud to be part of it especially as one of the volunteers at the Khalifa Stadium.

“Doha being selected as Arab Tourism Capital of 2023, will give the nation an extra acceleration to increase the number of visitors enabling them to experience what the nation has to offer which will help improve the hotel occupancy rate and boost competition leading to healthy operations with a happy staff and stakeholders,” Tambis said adding that that Qatar is moving in the right direction developing the tourism sector through construction and infrastructure upgrading.Doha was selected as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2023 by the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism recently.

Commenting on the selection Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker confirmed that the selection of Doha as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2023 represents a recognition that Doha is a truly remarkable city offering a spectacular tourism experience for all international travelers.

In a press statement he said that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament has allowed many to directly experience Qatar’s warm hospitality and authentic culture and heritage, adding that there is more in store, as Qatar looks ahead to an exciting calendar of events in 2023, and further attractions and leisure destinations opening across the country in the new year.The cities were evaluated based on tourism management, infrastructure and resources, safety and security, diversity of tourism activations, conservation and protection of the environment.

By 2030, Qatar Tourism’s strategy aims to attract six million visitors annually, focusing on 15 priority markets and identifying distinct opportunities from point to point and stopover travel.
