A regional conference on cultural diversity, which will start on Monday by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, aims to create an Asian generation capable of dealing with the world and globalisation, said an official at the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The two-day event is being organised by the ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

“The conference aims to create opportunities to help young people fight poverty because culture today is one of the sources of diversity of income as well as it aims to create an Asian generation capable of dealing with the world and globalisation,” said Mariam Al Hammadi, General Coordinator of the Organizing Committee of the Conference on Cultural Diversity, at the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Speaking to a local TV channel, she said that the conference is part of Qatar’s chairmanship of ACD.

Earlier at a press statement, the Ministry of Culture and Sports said it would organise a regional conference on cultural diversity to highlight its importance and role in bringing people closer.  The conference will be held in Doha on September 2-3, 2019 at National Museum of Qatar and under the title ‘Culture: Bridges of Dialogue and Understanding’.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports, by organising this event, aims to emphasise the role of the State of Qatar as a reliable partner at the international level, as well as to highlight the importance of the cultural role in enhancing relations between Qatar and the member states of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

“It is an important platform that seeks to create an Asian community capable of interacting with the rest of the world and contributing positively towards promoting peace and well-being, in line with the fundamental pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Director of the Department of Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalid Al Hamar.
