The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has announced launching a new poetry competition ‘Prize for Al Safinat Horse’s Poet’ which will be organised on the sidelines of Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIHAF) 2023.
Katara announced the opening of the registration for the poetry competition on its Twitter account yesterday inviting entries for ‘Prize of Al Safinat Horse’s Poet’.
According to conditions set by Katara, the poetry for the prize will be only in Nabati classical poetry on Arab horse while candidates can participate in the prize from Qatar and abroad. “The poem should comprise from 10 to 15 stanzas and the deadline for submitting the entry is December 31, 2022.”
The candidates can apply for the Prize through the website of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival www.kiahf.qa.
The mission of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival is to support Qatar’s rich equestrian heritage and promote it worldwide. It is organised by Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, and Qatar Equestrian Federation to promote the uniqueness of Purebred Arabian horses at the various local, regional, and international platforms by hosting a Title Show of magnificent Arabians.
The festival promotes Qatar, which is a pioneer in breeding purebred Arabians, as a world-class hub for horses and equestrian sports; enhance Qatar’s standing in this discipline. It also boosts the confidence and pride of owners by presenting them with opportunities to participate in the various prestigious Arabian horse shows organized. It upholds the culture of “modernization and originality” in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
This festival plays a key role in encouraging owners of purebred Arabians in Qatar. It inspires them to improve their breeding programs and nurture the beauty of the breed.
Owners are also encouraged to provide their horses with the optimum environment and training required to ensure their well-being.
The various activities associated with KIAHF include: Auction of horses participating in the Title Show; exhibition – equine postal stamps; painting – saddle art; cube painting; 3D painting on the ground; sculpture art; display of horse-related books; exhibition: equine photography; carousal; parade of horses, etc.
It is to be noted that the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara will also host the 2023 and 2025 editions of the World Arabian Horse Championships (WAHC) and it will be the first time in 40 years that WAHC will be organised outside France.
A strategic partnership agreement for the event had been signed by Prof Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, and Jean-Luc Poulain, president, Centre national des expositions et concours agricoles (Ceneca) during the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2022) in February this year.
