Doha Fire Station names artist in residence at ISCP in New York

Doha: The Doha Fire Station announced that Saida Alkhulaifi is the current artist in residence in New York at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP). She is in residence from May until September this year.

The residency includes 24-hour access to a private furnished studio space, communal facilities, regular studio visits from guest critics, field trips to museums, galleries and other cultural venues. Accepted residents are granted living and materials allowance, accommodation allowance, and one return travel ticket. Only one artist is accepted per residency term.

ISCP located in Brooklyn, is New York’s most comprehensive international visual arts residency programme, supporting the creative advancement of contemporary artists and curators, and promoting cultural exchange.

Saida Alkhulaifi is a multidisciplinary artist and curator. She obtained her MA degree in Museums and Gallery practice from University College of London. Her work explores the theme of time within the context of recent memory, emotions and objects’ connection to human behaviour.

Doha Fire Station has five Residency Programmes. Others include Artist in Residence where artists are given a studio space at the Fire Station in Doha; Paris Residency who will work and reside in Qatar’s Studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France for three consecutive months.
