This weekend is going to be hectic. Get yourself ready for a roller-coaster ride of football, film, food festival and arts over the weekend.
Be ready to root for team Qatar as they take on Japan in the Asian Cup final. There are live match screening on giant screens all around Qatar.
Here are a few things to do this weekend.

Giant screens at various places to watch Qatar's AFC Cup final live

Tomorrow Qatar will be taking on Japan in the historic Asian Cup final. There was stadium kind of atmosphere with fans cheering and supporting Al Annabis at giant screens around the city when they crushed UAE 4-0.

Now get ready to support the football team as they play for the trophy. There will be screens placed at six popular places in Qatar for fans to watch the match in a stadium atmosphere:

Katara- the screen has been placed at the Esplanade.

Pearl Qatar-The Amphitheatre, 30 La Croisette in Porto Arabia.

Souq Waqif-Western Arena of the market.

Mall of Qatar-Oasis.

Aspire Park-Behind Lake.

Torba Market - Ceremonial Court, Education city.

Chocolate Tea Coffee Festival 2019

The second edition of the Qatar’s Chocolate, Coffee and Tea Festival will be held from January 30 to February 9, 2019 at the Al Bidda Park — opposite Qatar National Theater, Doha – Qatar.

Organised by Four and One, the festival will be bringing together more than 90 local and international exhibitors, ready to display and provide free tasting of their finest chocolate, teas and coffee while introducing new products and live competitions.

Monster Maker

Fire Station resident artist Nourbanu Hijazi is organizing an old classic game with a fun twist.

Each participant will take turns drawing monsters on folded sections of a long paper scroll, leaving little information for the next person to see. Once everyone adds their contribution on the scroll, passing it on until it is full, it will then be unfolded to see the creature on it.

Everyone will get to choose different elements of the long monster, and make their own beast sculpture out of air-dry clay and other materials.

Qanat Qarnevale 2019

Following the success of last year’s festival, United Development Company, will be hosting “Qanat Qarnevale” for the second time, across various sites at Qanat Quartier, The Pearl-Qatar.

Children will be able to enjoy games and activities in the kids sections, whilst the whole family will have fun taking water taxi rides on the canals and watching shows such as acrobatics, LED dance performances, jazz music, glass blowing and water fountain shows. There will also be game booths where visitors can win prizes in addition to outdoor cinema shows.

Baladna Cultural Festival

Experience cultures and delicious food from over 12 countries across the world at Baladna Cultural Festival.

The festival will include many traditions and ethnicities in the form of delicious cuisines. Dance performances and arts & crafts activities.

Residents of Qatar will get to enjoy 9 days of cultural festivities over the weekends.

Day 1 of Baladna Cultural Festival will be highlighting Qatari & Indian performances, in celebration of 2019 Culture Year between them. The other countries participating in this festival are Philippines, America, Ireland, South Korea and Africa.

DFI Cinema Under the Stars: 'Coco'

DFI Cinema will be screening the popular animated movie Coco which was released in 2017.

Katara Cultural Diversity Festival

This weekend will feature folkloric shows from Bulgaria and Indonesia.

The festival features an array of cultural performances from different nations around the world and aims to act as bridge between cultures and provide a multicultural harmonious environment.

The festival is free for everyone.

Mahaseel and Halal Qatar at Katara

With the aim of preserving Qatar’s traditional heritage and culture, the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, is preparing to launch the eighth edition of Halal (Livestock) Festival.

The nine-day festival, which is one of the largest in the region, includes an array of activities aimed at raising public awareness on the country’s livestock sector.

The festival features a livestock auction on the best breeds of goats and sheep which brings in more varieties for breeders to enhance production.

Katara announced yesterday that Mahaseel market will remain open and operating coinciding with the Halal Qatar Festival.

The Mahaseel market will offer different kinds of products including fresh agricultural produce and dairy products from local farms with 35 companies taking part.

Mahaseel Festival also featured many educational and entertaining activities aimed toward raising awareness on the importance of agriculture and the best practices in this field.

Family Concert: Peter and the Wolf

Katara is hosting a concert, Peter and the Wolf, conducted by Giovanni Pasini and narrated by Christoph Schmitz. The act will be performed by theatre duo Tamara Schaefer and Svetlana Schmitz with shadow theatre.

The ticket for the concert is priced at QR 75.

Russian avant-garde art show

A rich and diverse collection of works by pioneers and descendants of Russian avant-garde art is on show at the Fire Station marking the conclusion of the highly successful Qatar Russia 2018 Year of Culture.

Organized in collaboration with world-renowned State Tretyakov Gallery, the exhibition, features 81 works by 24 of the most influential and significant figures in the history of Russian art.

One of the remarkable pieces on display is a 1919 installation by Vladimir Tatlin in the form of a model of a tower resembling a huge functioning machine with structures designed to rotate at a specific time.
