DOHA: Enterprise Qatar (EQ) and Mowgli Foundation, together with co-sponsors Norman Broadbent and Social Development Centre (SDC) have launched Qatar’s first year-long Mowgli Mentoring Experience (MME) programme to provide trained mentors to support start-up and growth-orientated entrepreneurs in the country.

The aim of the programme is to support and encourage the development of sustainable and successful businesses, help entrepreneurs to generate employment and wealth while facilitating the development of leadership capabilities in the Qatari business community.

Mowgli Foundation is an award winning, UK-headquartered organisation which has run 30 mentoring programmes across the UK, Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.  Mowgli supports over 250 entrepreneurs and Qatar is the first country in the GCC to receive Mowgli programmes.  During the Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in Dubai in December, Mowgli was recognised with the Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders for ‘the Best Mentor Network in the Arab Region’.

EQ, Mowgli’s partner in Qatar, already supports Qatari entrepreneurship though providing a wide range of educational programmes to build and refine administrative skills of entrepreneurs and owners of SMEs. EQ also provides a comprehensive sector database and identifies investment opportunities to attract entrepreneurs and owners of SMEs.

Additionally, EQ provides entrepreneurs and owners of SMEs with the financial facilities necessary to transform Qatar into a regional entrepreneurial and SME hub.

The two co-sponsors of the programme, Norman Broadbent and Social Development Centre (SDC), have also each made their own mark on the development of Qatari entrepreneurship and leadership.

Held at the K108 Hotel, the programme brought together 8 predominantly Qatari start up and growth phase entrepreneurs, and 8 high calibre multinational mentors with MENA experience; from Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, India, England and Ireland.
