Action from the second day of the Qatar Optimist Cup organised by Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF) at Corniche yesterday. Around 44 sailors, born in 1998 or after, from 14 countries are taking part in the championship.
Doha: Overnight leader Rasim Yasar of Turkey continued to dominate on the second day of the Qatar Optimist Cup 2013 here yesterday.
Two other sailors Marsha Shahrin of Singapore and Nicolas Rolaz of Switzerland were also able to hold to their second and third positions at the end of four races in the 12-race event.
On a day where light winds lashed Qatar Yasar maintained his perfect record while talking his net score to four points and in the process widen the gap between second-placed Shahrin to 12 points.
Rolaz is in the third place with 18 points at the event organised by Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation (QSRF).
Around 44 sailors, born in 1998 or after, from 14 countries are taking part in the championship.
Sailors from Algeria, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Spain, Finland, Germany, India, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, besides Qatar in the competition which will end on January 2.
The first three place winners will get cash prizes.
The overall champion in the boy’s and girl’s section will get QR4,000 each.
Prize money will also be awarded to podium winners in the Optimist Team Racing event.
