Volleyball: World Championship draw in Moscow today

Doha: The fate of the 24 participating teams including debutants Qatar at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Russia 2022 will be decided today at the draw ceremony to be held in Moscow today.

The 24 teams that have qualified for the FIVB’s flagship event will be drawn in position to form six pools of four teams each.

President of the Qatar and West Asia Federations, Vice-President of the Asian Confederation, and member of the Board of Directors of Beach volleyball at the (FIVB), Ali bin Ghanem Al Kuwari, said that Qatar team will be prepared well to present an honorable image of the Arabs with teams of Tunisia and Egypt at the World Championship. 

Meanwhile, the participating teams will also get to know which city they’ll be travelling to, amongst the six hosting the first phase of the competition: Moscow (already set for Pool A which includes VFR), Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Ufa and Yekaterinburg.

Pool A will be headed by hosts VFR, with the top five teams from the FIVB World Rankings taking a place in Pools B to F.

The remaining 18 teams will be drawn in position in lots of six each according to the FIVB World Rankings.

The 2022 World Championship runs from 26 August to 11 September across a total of ten cities (Kazan, Kaliningrad and Yaroslavl joining in later rounds those already set to host the first phase).
