Doha: The Ministry of Culture, represented by the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, and in cooperation with the Qatar Charity centre for community development, Al Khor Girls Center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports launched the “Reading is Life” program.
The program intends to encourage and develop reading for girls, in addition to offering opportunities for the girls who are willing to register in accessing “Noon” platform to further participate in this program, which is held weekly every Tuesday and continues until August 16, 2022.
Events Officer at Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum Amna Mohamed Abugrgaa underscored the importance of reading clubs, explaining that one of the most prominent programs offered through this event entails a guidance program to further train the girls on establishing and managing their reading clubs for the sake of bolstering their potential role in encouraging their peers and colleagues to read.
Amna Mohamed Abugrgaa added that Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum has made a significant contribution by offering the reading guide program which introduces the secrets of reading, understanding, improving, acquiring, and developing skills, noting that the forum enhanced the definition of Qatari publishing houses and the Qatari author by providing versions of some Qatari books.
Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum of the Ministry intends to prioritize the role of publishing and distributors, by upgrading the professional level of the publishing and distribution industry, in addition to boosting cooperation between publishing and distribution houses, in a way that contributes to the advancement of publishing and distribution operations, strengthening links between publishers and distributors, and contributing to the dissemination of distributing the production of Qatari authors locally, regionally and internationally, participating in local and foreign publishing, distribution and book fairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and other competent authorities, among others.
