Doha-based Rajath of NVBS to train at Gopichand Academy

Doha: Doha-based Rajath Raj Rameshan, a trainee at  New Vision Badminton  Sport (NVBS), has been selected to undergone a one-month training camp at the prestigious Pullela Gopichand Acdemy in India, officials of NVBS announced yesterday.

A Grade 10th student at Delhi Public School (DPS), Doha, Qatar, Rajath will get a permanent slot at the academy if he impresses the management of the Gopichand academy during his one-month stay in the Indian city of Hyderabad. 

“I am excited to get this chance to train at Sir Gopichand academy. I will give my best during my stay at the academy and it will be a great experience to train under some of the great coaches who have trained so many badminton legends of India,” said Rajath who started as 11-year old with NVBS under chief coach and Managing Director Manoj Sahibjan.

Sahibjan said Rajath’s getting the nod to train at the Gopichand Academy is a feather in the cap for NVBS.

“I am surprised and also excited to hear the news that for the first time a player from Doha, Qatar has been selected for a month-long training cum selection trial at the Gopichand academy,” said the Chief Coach of NVBS.

“I am really happy and proud of my student. It is not just a selection but it is great achievement for him as well as for my coaching career,” added Sahibjan. 

Praising Rajath for been focused on and off the field Sahibjan said: “This achievement is God’s gift for Rajath for his hard work, determination, dedication and his whole hearted commitment for the game,” Sahibjan said while wishing him all the very best.

Rajath has been practising for last 4 years under  Sahibjan at NVBS and for the last three months he have been undergoing intense training under Head Coach Afsal O K and assistant coaches Ashif Ameerjan and Adarsh MS.

“He has been hard working from day one and used to do his training truthfully and displayed great court attitude and discipline,” said Chief Coach Afsal.

“All the coaches and management of NVBS is really happy for him and we wish him a bright future in his badminton career,” added Afsal, while thanking Gopichand for giving such a great opportunity for Rajath to take his talent to the next level.
