Doha: Daydreamer EC and Saeed Nasser Al Qadi bagged major honours on the opening day of the 10th round of the Hathab Equestrian Tour yesterday.
Al Qadi’s trusted 16-year-old gelding completed an error-free ride in 61.11 secs as the duo bagged yet another win in the 12-leg series.
The win also earned Al Qadi a prize cheque for QR5,000. Alegro 84, with Mohammed Al Ghazali in the saddle, won the second place in 65.46 secs and won QR4,000 in prize money.
Mohammed Khalifa Albaker guided Arselina to a 65.98-second finish as the duo booked the remaining spot on the podium. Albaker won QR3,000.
Team Al Kass, which consisted of Albaker (Arselina), Al Ghazali (Aslan 69), Rami Younis (Inzaghi Van Molenheide), with a total time of 138.64 secs, won the team event to bag QR10,000 in prize money yesterday. Team Porsche won the second place as Team Shaqab finished third.
Earlier, Al Ghazali completed a flawless ride on Maradonna 25 to clinch the Small Tour title yesterday. Al Ghazali’s gelding completed the routine in 42.51 secs as the Qatari rider won QR2,500 in prize money.
Ferani Paulowna, ridden by Al Qadi, spent a time of 42.58 to complete the same task to win the second place and got richer by QR2,000. News Boy, with Faris Saad Al Qahtani in the saddle, booked the remaining spot on the podium with a ride which he took 43.22 secs to complete.
The Hathab series is organised by Qatar Equestrian Federation and Al Shaqab, member of Qatar Foundation.
