Two soldiers, six militants killed in Pakistan security operation

Islamabad: The Pakistani army announced Thursday that it had killed six militants during a security operation in the northwest of the country.

The army explained in a statement that the security forces carried out the operation based on intelligence information that monitored the movement of militants in Mir Ali town, north Waziristan district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest of the country.

The statement added that following an exchange of fire, the security forces were able to kill six militants, noting that two soldiers were also killed during the clashes.

The security forces and the army in Pakistan have been carrying out security operations in various parts of the country to pursue militants.
