Doha: Of the many texts and images being shared on social media prior and after the Qatar AFC win, a calligraphy artwork showing Qatar written in Arabic with a flexed muscle in the midst has gone viral.
The artist couple who designed it, Sameeha Abdussamad and her husband Adhil Mubarak, were on cloud nine especially after they saw that among others, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President, and H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, had shared them on their social media accounts.
Brought up in Doha and a freelance architect by profession Sameeha and her engineer husband Adhil says that they made the design after Adhil commented that the letter 'Th' in Arabic text of Qatar looks like flexed biceps emoji.
"It was after Qatar thrashed Saudi Arabia at the Asian Cup 10 days back, that we both made this up and shared it on our business page on Instagram," she added.
The family owns a juice shop in Al Khor which has an Instagram page Sidheequesfalafel where the couple shared the design.
"We put up the image on our Instagram page immediately after the Saudi match and few of our friends shared it from there. Some of our customers are Qatari citizens and they probably saw it and liked it too. It was in the last two days that the image went viral," says Sameeha.
Adhil yesterday thanked everyone for appreciating the artwork on the Instagram page. "We are very humbled that this creation of ours has been taken up by the people of this great nation.”
