DOHA: UAE rider Mohammed Al Balooshi yesterday won both races in the third round of the Qatar International Enduro held near Sealine Beach Resort.
A total of 38 riders took part in the third round of Qatar International Enduro organized by Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF).
In this round, riders from Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Germany, France, South Africa, Lebanon, Great Britain, Pakistan and Sri Lanka took part in the races.
Al Balooshi, on a KTM bike, was the overall winner with a total time of 38:37.395 while competing in the E2 category.
The second rider with the best time was Kuwaiti rider Mohammed Jaffar, who was also piloting a KTM bike but in E1 category.
German rider Tycho Lieske, on a Yamana bike, crossed the line in third position.
Regarding results by categories, in the E1, Mohammed Jaffar was first in the podium and Lieske in second place.
The third step of the podium was for Abdullah Al Shatti from Kuwait on a Honda bike.
Al Balooshi was the winner in the E2 category with Ali Al Kubaisi in second position and Saeed Al Shenati in third place. In the E3 category, it was a UAE podium all the way.
Khalid Khamis, the leader of his category, was the winner with a time of 44:36.500.
Saif Al Kmaite came second in the race, while the third place spot went to Anwar Al Nuaimi.
In the quad bike category, Abdulla Nasser Al Ali finished in first place while Obaid Al Kitbe ended the race in second spot. Qatari rider Mohammed Abu Issa, on a KTM quad bike, was third.
In the second race, the overall riders in the first and second place were the same as in Race 1.
Al Balooshi took the checkered flag in first position with a time of 37:11.556 while Mohammed Jaffar was a notch behind him, with a time of 37:27.624.
The third place secured by Kuwaiti rider Abdulla Al Shatti.
In the podium of E1 category, the top place was again clinched by Jaffar while Al Shatti finished in second place.
The third place was secured by Lieske from Germany.
The E2 podium was secured by Al Balooshi while French rider Yannie Le Gourvenec was in second place.
Ali Al Kubaisi was in the third place.
In the E3 category there was a repetition of the podium: Khalid Khamis, Saif Al Kmaiti and Anwar Al Nuaimi.
In the quad bike category, Obaid Al Kitbe was the winner while Abdulla Nasser Al Ali was second. The third place clinched by Mohammed Abu Issa from Qatar.
In this round there was a classification for the Arab Federation Series in Race 1 and Race 2.
In this series, there were the riders from Arabic countries only and specially hosted by Qatar in the Qatar International Enduro Round 3.
There was a special trophy given to German woman rider Lara Lynn as being the only woman rider taking part in this series.
Trophies were given by Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya (QMMF President), Sultan Al Morraikhi (QMMF Board Member), Isa Al Awadhi (Bahrain Motorcycle Club President), Ali Dagher (Lebanese Motorcycle Club President) and Omar Zarzou (Royal Jordan Motorcycle Club General Secretary).
As in previous rounds, Alfardan Motorcycles supported the Qatar International Enduro by sponsoring gifts such as helmets, riding equipment, boots and shirts.
The fourth and last round of Qatar International Enduro will be held from February 7 to 9, 2013. THE PENINSULA
