Los Angeles: New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis suffered a right knee bruise in a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers that could hamper him moving forward this season.

The Pelicans (4-12) had a three-game win streak snapped 111-90 on Friday but the main concern was the status of Davis, who had 17 points and six rebounds for New Orleans before leaving with 2:48 remaining in the third quarter.

With the Clippers leading 80-63, Los Angeles star Chris Paul moved into Davis to draw a foul as the two raced upcourt. David grabbed his right knee and fell to the court. He was carried off by two teammates.

Davis said only "no comment" when asked if he thought Paul bumped him deliberately.

Paul denied any intent to injure Davis but Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry was gruff about the notion after the game.

"I don't have anything to say about it. You make your own judgment," Gentry said.
