Doha: Indian passport holders with valid US visa or green cards will get visa on arrival in UAE.
This was approved by the UAE Cabinet, WAM reported.
Under the new move, ordinary passport holders from India who have a US visa or green card with a minimum six-month validity can enter the country from any point of entry for a period of 14 days, with an option for a one-time extension of the same period.
There are around 143 daily flights between cities in both countries, one flight every ten minutes, or 1000 flights per week. The number of Indian tourists coming to the UAE in 2016 reached about 1.6 million Indian tourists, and there were about 50,000 UAE tourists who visited India in the same year, reported WAM.
Qatar had also announced plans to issue visa on arrival for Indians along with Russians and Chinese. This was announced in September and work for the same is under process.
UAE had started issuing visa on arrival for Chinese and Russian visitors.
From November 2016, Chinese passport holders travelling to UAE are issued Visa on arrival and Russian passport holders get the same from last month.
This has pushed the number of tourists coming to Dubai has gone up 12 percent year-on-year during the first two months to over 3 million.
The number of tourists from China increased by 60 per cent year-on-year to 157,000, while the number of Russian visitors rose 84 per cent to 65,000 in the first two months.
