Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities up the glam quotient at NMoQ opening ceremony

A number of prominent figures from the field of politics, culture, art and media attended the opening of the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday in a grand function held at the museum premises last evening.

The celebrity international guests who graced the event included Hollywood actors like Johnny Depp, Lucas Evans and Zoe Saldana.

Bollywood actor and fashion icon Sonam Kapoor was also present at the opening ceremony.

Former Spice Girls singer turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham and British model Naomi Campbell were also present.

Some of the guests will be attending the Fashion Trust Arabia Awards function, which will be held today at the Fire Station.

The museum is designed by Pritzker Prize-winning French architect, Jean Nouvel, who used the inspiration from a desert rose to create an interlocking disc design for the building.

NMoQ tells the story of Qatar and its people from more than 700 million years ago through to today, giving voice to Qatar’s rich heritage and culture and expressing a vibrant community’s aspirations for the future.

The museum opened its door to the public from today and the timings for the opening weekend are as follows: Thursday 28th March: 10am – 9pm, Friday 29th March: 1.30pm – 7pm and Saturday 30th March: 10am – 7pm.
