New York: United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that 100,000 children in Gaza Strip have enrolled in schools following the start of the new academic year on February 23, with 165 public schools reopening across the territory.
In its latest update released on Thursday, OCHA reported that polio vaccination campaign, which began a few days ago, concluded on Wednesday, reaching over 600,000 children under the age of 10.
The office also noted that the World Health Organization (WHO) provided supplies to three hospitals and five health partners, benefiting 250,000 people across Gaza. At the same time, WHO supported the expansion of triage and emergency departments at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City by supplying tents and 20 additional beds.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) delivered this week essential health kits, children's medicines, and neonatal supplies to Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, benefiting more than 20,000 people.
Regarding the situation in West Bank, OCHA confirmed that Israeli forces continue operations in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas, resulting in more casualties, displacement, and restricted access to healthcare, water, electricity, and other essential services.
