Herning, denmark: The 11th Men’s EHF European Handball Championship in Denmark was the scenery in yet another successful activation of the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship, the major handball event that will be held in Doha from January 17 till February 1, 2015.
Denmark’s largest indoor hall, the Jyske Bank Boxen arena in Herning, where Group Stage and Main Round matches, as well as all Final Round games were played, was the host venue of the Qatar 2015 fan activation, the second in 2014.
The 14,000 capacity arena was full-packed in each match day up until the victoriously for the French final against the former European Champions Denmark (41:32), and large majority of the fans participated in the promotional events of the 2015 Qatar Men’s Handball World Championship Organising Committee. The purpose of the activation was to advertise the upcoming largest global championship, the first at a senior level that will be staged in the GCC and in a single city, in Doha.
Thousands of T-shirts with the Qatar 2015 logo were given away to all those who simply liked the official Qatar 2015 Facebook webpage, while European fans were also introduced to Middle Eastern traditional healthy goods through the offer of approximately 25000 dates.
Additionally, the Qatar 2015 promotional team distributed a great number of flyers to raise awareness for the forthcoming Men’s World Championship and gave away thousands of clappers in all four Euro 2014 venues (Herning, Aalborg, Aarhus and Copenhagen) throughout the two-week high-level competition, enabling the enthusiastic spectators to create a festive and cheerful atmosphere in every single match.
The response of the majority of the audience was impressive and their desire to come to Qatar and support their favourite team at the next Men’s Handball World Championship immense and since the 11th European Championship has come to pass, the planning for the next handball adventure at a major event, the World Championship in 2015, has already begun.
