Qatar maintain winning streak

Qatar won 25-20, 25-21, 25-12 to notch their second successive win in the championship. Five teams are taking part in the championship which will end on November 29. TOP: Qatari players Milos (left) and Saeed celebrate a point against Saudi Arabia. In today’s matches, Saudi Arabia take on Oman at 5.30pm, while Qatar meet Kuwait at 7.30pm. The last round matches will take place on November 29.
Doha: Hosts Qatar defeated Saudi Arabia in straight sets to register their second successive win at the 9th GCC Men’s Volleyball championship.
Yesterday, at Al Arabi Stadium,  Qatar won 25-20, 25-21, 25-12.
On Sunday, the hosts had opened their campaign with an emphatic 3-0 win over Oman in the five-team tournament which will end on November 29.
In the other match yesterday, Bahrain maintained their winning streak coasting to an easy win over Kuwait.
Although all the sets were a keenly contested affair, Bahrain scored points at crucial stages to pocket the three sets with a scoreline of 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.
For Bahrain it was their third successive and now lead the points tally with an all-win record
Qatar are in second place with two wins from two  matches.
On Sunday, Bahrain defeated Saudi Arabia and had began their campaign on Saturday with a win against Oman.
There are two matches today, Saudi Arabia take on Oman at 5.30pm, while Qatar meet Kuwait at 7.30pm.  The last round matches of the round-robin league will take place on November 29.
All eyes will be focussed on the  Bahrain and Qatar match, if the host managed to win their third match today against Kuwait. 
The match between two top placed teams is likely to decide the championship.
