HBKU-Press publishes at least 8 new titles

Doha: Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU-Press) has published at least eight new books in different genres during the second quarter of this year.

It has published a collection of fiction and non-fiction titles for adults and children in English and Arabic.

Among the books HBKU Press’s newest children’s book, Alphabet City is a playful, home-grown and alliterative approach to learning the alphabet made for curious children. It enriches the connection between children, parents, and the cities. Alphabet City also aims to strengthen children’s vocabulary while nurturing their imaginations, according to the ‘HBKU-Press Quarterly Newsletter- August 2018.’

As its time for the new school year, ‘Qatar Nature Explorer’ is the latest reprint of bestselling series combines six non-fiction books into one to offer unique insight into Qatar’s natural history and wildlife. It is an essential resource for schools and parents.

Funny Duckling is an inventive tale that encourages readers to never shy away from helping someone in need while imagining the impossible.

HBKU-Press has also published Arabic to English and vice versa translations recently.

Among them, English readers can now enjoy Abdelrashid Mahmoudi’s critically-acclaimed novel After Coffee, a story about an orphaned boy who goes on an extraordinary journey across Egypt all the way to Vienna. The book was originally written in Arabic and won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in 2013. In a narrative that interweaves aspects of Egyptian folklore, epic prose, and classical literature, Mahmoudi skillfully presents the conflict between the man in exile who reflects longingly on his history and origins, and the village boy who belonged nowhere.

While, Outclassed in Kuwait by Taleb Al Refai is a biographical novel that traces his ascent from poverty into the upper reaches of Kuwaiti society.

HBKU Press will be showcasing and selling its publications at upcoming international events such as the Istanbul international book fair, Frankfurt buchmesse (Frankfurt book fair), Amman International book fair and Kuwait international book fair.
