Doha: Qatar men’s beach handball team booked their place in the World Championships for the sixth time after clinching their fourth successive victory at the ongoing Asian Beach Handball Championship in Tehran, Iran, yesterday.

Qatar yesterday beat Vietnam 2-0 (15-12, 17-8) to maintain their clean sheet in Tehran to top the points table with eight points in the six-team event.

The top three finishers in the Asian Championship receive direct tickets to the World Championship which will to be held in Greece next June.

Qatar had earlier defeated India (2-0), the Philippines (2-0) and Oman (2-1), and will take on the hosts Iran in their final group match tomorrow.

Al Annabi's place in the World Championship is guaranteed regardless of the result of tomorrow's match. However, there will be a three-way battle for the remaining two slots.

With India and the Philippines already lacking points, Iran, Oman and Vietnam, will be looking to finish among the top three. Iran are currently sitting in the second spot with six points, followed by Oman and Vietnam respectively with both having four points each.
