Doha: Qatar’s Single Window System is currently digitalising all its infrastructures as the country seeks to be a regional hub for investments, according to an official.

Speaking at the FinTech Summit Middle East recently, Director of Single Window at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) Mohamad Hamad Al Nuaimi said the government-initiative Single Window System - considered to be a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs setting up their businesses in Qatar – is working towards the full adoption of paperless transactions and streamlining of all its services.

The digital platform plays an integral role in assisting investors in their application process, from planning, to registration, and licensing through a smart electronic interface. The national initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency in service delivery in order to save time and costs for investors.

To date, as many as 77 government entities have already been linked in the online platform, said Al Nuaimi. He added that the Single Window has also conducted over 26,000 transactions and issued over 7,000 documents last year. The System has also adopted the use of electronic signatures and signed as many as 19,000 e-contracts with the Ministry of Justice, and completed about 29,000 payments, Al Nuaimi added.

The Single Window initiative is part of Qatar’s endeavour to attract local and foreign investments and enhance the country’s position as an ideal destination for investment in the region and the world.

The first phase of the Single Window was launched in 2019 to provide advanced electronic services for business incorporation, identifying and streamlining procedures for licensing the construction of business centres, issuing business licenses, and offering incentives to foreign investors.
