Davos: Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, hoped that the Gaza Ceasefire deal would represent a first step toward fostering stability in the region, stressing the importance of the two parties' commitment to the deal.
This came during his remarks delivered at a panel discussion entitled "Diplomacy in the Midst of Chaos", within the 55th session of the World Economic Forum 2025, currently held in Davos, Switzerland, from Jan. 20 to 24.
Moderated on Tuesday by President of the World Economic Forum HE Borge Brende, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs hoped that the deal would represent a first step toward fostering the stability in the region and moving progressively toward the second phase, culminating in a permanent ceasefire that achieves the comprehensive resolution of the decades-long conflict.
His Excellency expressed his delight at the deal that took effect, with the humanitarian aid getting into the Gaza Strip and the return of hostages following the negotiations that lasted for 15 months to resolve an extremely complex conflict.

Regarding his recent visit to Damascus, His Excellency added that his received ambitious promises from the new Syrian administration on its plans for openness to all spectrums of the people of Syria, hoping that this trajectory would help them overcome the trials of the civil war that raged for 13 years to be a stable country to essentially contribute to the stability of the region.
In his closing remarks, His Excellency expressed the State of Qatar's confidence and belief in the capabilities of the people of Syria to achieve that goal, affirming that they were seen in diaspora emerging as refugees and subsequently integrated into the communities to which they migrated, achieving incredible successes.
