Doha: Manager of Constructions Affairs at Barwa Real Estate Group, Khalid Abdullah Al Hitmi has said that Barwa Motor City Phase-3 project will be completed soon.
The project, locally called ‘Madinat Al Mawater’ a new destination for used-cars related activities is located in Rawdat Rashid near Salwa road intersection in over 1,150,000 square meters.
“Phase 1 and 2 projects are ready. The project is running. The city is witnessing activities of sport and classical cars every Thursday and Friday. Car showrooms of phase 1 and 2 have been rented out completely. The car showrooms of third phase are on the booking,” said Khalid Al Hitmi while speaking in a Qatar TV programme recently.
He said that the city will have many other facilities rather than car showrooms including those related to vehicle services, technical inspection centre and car dealerships. “The project will be completed during next year,” said Al Hitmi. According to a report posted on the website of Barwa, the Motor City will have used car showrooms, residential accommodation, workshops, a hotel, a motel and commercial shops.
It will also provide other supporting facilities including offices for the Traffic Department, Civil Defence, banks, car insurance, a petrol station and car technical inspection service (Fahes).
This project comes as one of Barwa Group projects aiming to support the social and economic aspects in Qatar.
Barwa Real Estate will develop and operate this multi-phased project over the duration of four years so as to benefit from it through the BOT system (Build-Operate-Transfer) for 30 years.
Phase one of the project comprises of 60 used-car showrooms, 176 apartments of different sizes, 10 shops, a number of workshops and a petrol station in addition to all infrastructure work. Upon completion, the Motor City will be the main destination for all used- cars related activities including sale, purchase and maintenance.
Speaking on the development of Barwa Al Baraha project, Khalid Al Hitmi said: “The Project has been developed to add more facilities as per the current requirements. The project basically was implemented as truck parking lot as per the requirements of the market at that time. Later the project was redesigned to add labour camps, workshops and warehouses.”
Al Hitmi pointed out that Barwa Real Estate is building schools for the Ministry of Education and Higher Education under a project of Public and Private Partnership (PPP).
