Falling cases of COVID 19 in Qatar necessitated new decision: HMC official

Doha: The new and important update of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) regarding the COVID 19 regulations in Qatar was due to the decrease in cases for the fifth consecutive week, Dr. Yousef Al-Maslamani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital, has said.

 Speaking during an interview on Qatar TV, Dr Al Maslamani said that the development has necessitated the cancellation of all travel examinations due to the public’s cooperation with the MoPH which led to the decrease in the number of cases and deaths.

Regarding the new quarantine policy, he said, "Those infected with COVID will be isolated for a total of ten (10) days at home or in the hotel for travelers, in two parts - five days of complete hotel isolation, and five days after which we will allow the infected to leave, but with a condition that he/she must wear mask when having contact with others but free to remove the mask when alone."

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) announced today, October 26, 2022 ,that with the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to fall around the world and in Qatar, and the ongoing roll-out of Qatar’s National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, and based on the decision of the Council of Ministers issued on October 26, 2022, a set of updates will be applied to the measures in place to confront COVID-19. 

The updates come into effect on Tuesday,  November 1, 2022 and are as follows: 

It is mandatory for individuals to present the health status of the Ehteraz application when entering healthcare facilities in Qatar.

Citizens and residents of Qatar are no longer required to take a Rapid Antigen Test or PCR test within 24 hours following arrival in Qatar.

Visitors are no longer required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR or Rapid Antigen Test result before travelling to Qatar.

The Ministry stressed the need for all citizens, residents and visitors to continue to follow standard precautionary measures to reduce the risk of infection.

This includes being fully vaccinated against COVID-19; performing regular hand hygiene; getting tested if you experience COVID-19 symptoms; and following a healthy lifestyle.
