Elseify wins Qatar’s second gold at Asian Games

Ashraf Elseify has secured the second gold of the day for Qatar in hammer throw event at the Asian Games in Jakarta.

This is third medal for Qatar today including the gold in 400m men’s event and silver in 100m men’s sprint.

In his second throw itself Elseify threw 75.61m to take the lead and in his fifth attempt he threw the hammer to a distance of 76.88m to cement his gold.

Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan took the silver with a throw of 74.16m and Sukhrob Khodjaev of Uzbekistan claimed bronze with a seasonal best throw of 74.06m.

Earlier in the day Abdalelah Haroun had won Qatar's first gold of Asian Games 2018 in 400 metere race.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Tosin Ogunode became the second fastest man in the games by claiming the silver in the men’s 100m final today.

Now Qatar’s medal tally now stands at two golds, two silvers and one bronze – total of five medals. 

Fares Elbakh had won the other silver in weightlifting and shooter Hamad Ali Al Marri won the bronze.
