Doha: Qatar's World No. 1 ranked beach volleyball duo Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan qualified for the Rome 2022 World Championship which will be held from June 10-19.
Tokyo 2020 bronze medallists Cherif and Ahmed will lead a list of 48 men’s pairs at the World Championship, which will also see star players in the calibre of reigning Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sorum of Norway as well as Poland’s Michal Bryl and Bartosz Losiak who won two Challenge tournaments on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour earlier this season.
They will be joined by FIVB World Ranking leaders Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot of the Netherlands, their compatriots, 2013 world champions Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen, current Asian champions Christopher McHugh and Paul Burnett of Australia and many more of the world’s top men’s duos.
The draw for the pool phase is set to take place on May 31.
Of the 48 berths in each gender, 25 were determined on the basis of FIVB entry points.
The five continental confederations were also allocated four berths each, accounting for 20 more teams, and three remaining participants were granted wild cards.
