The reopening of Katara Hospitality owned iconic Raffles Hotel Singapore will boost the local economy and the hospitality sector. Raffles Singapore has commenced accepting reservations for stays commencing August 1, 2019 onwards. The hotel had closed its doors on December 2017 for its first renovation in almost 30 years.
“The aim of this renovation is to reposition this hotel as a leading property in the world and to restore its ancient glory,” a spokesperson of Katara Hospitality told The Peninsula.
“When Katara Hospitality invests in a property outside of Qatar, it aims to grow the economy of that country. Also, the opening of this historic property will help in the diversification of local economy,” added the spokesperson.
The hotel carries more than a century of glorious history having been host to world renowned artists, celebrities and royalties who visited this multicultural melting pot.
Opened in 1887, the hotel was declared a National Monument on the occasion of its 100th anniversary and today it stands as a jewel in the crown of Singapore’s hospitality industry, renowned and loved for its inimitable style and unsurpassed excellence of service and facilities.
“After reopening, the hotel will be the perfect blend of traditional and modern architecture. It will offer the best possible guest experience to the visitors,” said the spokesperson.
“Our careful and sensitive restoration was designed to ensure we retain everything that makes Raffles Singapore so special – the striking architecture, heritage and graceful service of the hotel. The newly restored property will offer a reinvigorated charming Raffles ambience, its legendary service as well as new and reimagined bars, restaurants, courtyards, and social areas; spaces designed to make Raffles the place to meet, spend time, dine, shop and celebrate. After more than a century of providing unsurpassed service excellence, we look forward to presenting a newly restored hotel with enhanced comfort and splendour for discerning travellers.” says Christian Westbeld, General Manager, Raffles Singapore.
The reopening of Raffles Singapore will continue to offer luxurious all-suite accommodations with an expanded suite count of 115. This includes the introduction of exquisite new suite categories, updating existing distinctive accommodation with new amenities and technology while maintaining the sense of space and ambience.
Complementing a suite stay at Raffles will be a variety of social spaces and lifestyle experiences. This includes a refreshed Raffles Boutique, previously our gift shop, that will house a History Gallery to illustrate the heritage of Raffles Singapore. The Arcade will also be home to new retail concepts and a brand-new Raffles Spa, a holistic sanctuary for hotel residents and the community to escape the bustle of the city.
The dining experiences will combine the hotel’s much-loved culinary traditions with contemporary dining concepts by renowned celebrity chefs. Each dining concept promises to tantalise the senses and has been carefully developed to enhance the famed ‘Raffles Experience’ for you.
These include Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse’s first Mediterranean sharing and grill concept, titled BBR by Alain Ducasse. Anne-Sophie Pic, one of the world’s top female chefs with three Michelin stars, makes her debut in Asia with her La Dame de Pic at Raffles Singapore concept.
Signature dining experiences that over the years have come to be synonymous with the hotel will make their return to delight. These include North Indian cuisine at Tiffin Room and the classic Raffles Afternoon Tea.
