In order to save children from accidents, traffic authorities have asked shops located at camping areas not to rent dune buggies to anyone who is not wearing safety devices.
Meanwhile, parents have been asked by the traffic department to take care of their children and must not allow them driving cars, motorcycles without driving licensees at winter camps.
“We visited winter campers at their camps, especially Sealine area and talked to campers about safety measures about the safety of children and gave them some pieces of advice on how to remain safe from accidents in the desert. We have advised parents not to allow children drive without licences. In this case, only parents will be held responsible,” said Lt. Abdul Wahid Ghareeb Al Anzi (pictured), traffic awareness officer.
“Children must not go to places or hills which may become dangerous,” Al Anzi said. “It is a second year for Media and Awareness Section to visit campers at their camps and meet them and talk to them about safety measures and how to spend a safety winter camping without accidents,” he added.
The Community Police on Friday organised an awareness campaign under the theme “enjoyable season and safety camping” in collaboration with Media and Awareness Section at the Traffic Department, Civil Defense, and Qatar Red Crescent, and visited Sealine area and provided awareness lectures to campers.
The aim of the campaign is to increase awareness about dangerous which may affect campers especially children and youth, mentioning that Sealine area marked by its sand dunes that most of youths like to drive in these places, said Lt Fadel Nasser Al Saadi, Community Police officer.
He added: “Parents must not allow their sons to drive motorcycles between vehicles which makes them prone to accidents”. The campaign will continue until next week.
