The Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania, H E Dr. Mahadhi Juma Maalim, and the Ambassador of Rwanda, H E Igor Marara Kayinamura, have lauded Katara Cultural Village for promoting and preserving culture as both countries seek to deepen ties with Katara.
While visiting the General Manager of Katara, Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, the envoys said the cultural village promotes cooperation among entities and contributes to human development.
“We have been cooperating with Katara for many, many years, and we’ve been participating in annual exhibitions,” Dr. Maalim said in a video posted on Katara’s official Twitter channel.
“We’re really impressed by the good work which is being done by Katara in the promotion and preservation of the culture. Also, in making sure that humanity and people all over the world cooperate and work together, from the perspective of the culture, participation and contribution of the culture to humanity and development — in all spheres of human development.
The visit by the envoys promotes Katara’s cultural diplomacy drive through its Public Diplomacy Centre, a think tank that aims to shape the global public perception of Qatar. It also aspires to create a positive environment through cultural diplomacy.
In another video, the Rwandan envoy said he was at Katara to foster collaboration and praise the institution’s activities during the just concluded FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
“I’m here to meet Professor Khalid, and we were discussing the beautiful performance this institution has made in hosting the entire world and presenting Qatar’s beautiful culture to the world. I’m also here to foster our collaboration with this beautiful institution,” Kayinamura said.
During the World Cup, Katara held several activities, which started on November 18 and continued until December 19.
The events included festivals, concerts, exhibitions, live performances, and the 12th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, among others. Around 51 main events and 300 sub-activities with the participation of 22 countries were hosted by the Cultural Foundation, including 20 exhibitions focused on sports and arts.
