GCC Volleyball: Qatar begin campaign on a winning note

Doha: Hosts Qatar defeated Oman in straight sets to begin their campaign in the 9th GCC Men’s Volleyball championship on a winning note.
At Al Arabi Stadium yesterday,  Qatar won 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.
For the hosts, Ibrahim and Abubahr were outstanding. 
The hosts, however, suffered a jolt in the second set when spiker Milos had to be benched on account of an injury. But the Igor Arbutina coached side who were down 3-7 at one stage of the second set rallied to win the second and the third set after having easily pocked the first one.
In the other match yesterday, title contendor Bahrain defeated Saudi Arabia by an identical 3-0 margin (25-17, 25-23, 25-16) to register their second successive in the championship.On Sunday, Bahrain had defeated Oman.
There are no matches today in the five-team tournament played on a round-robin league which will end on November 29. 
Tomorrow, Kuwait take on Bahrain at 5.30pm and hosts Qatar meet Saudi Arabia at 7.30pm.  The Peninsula
