DOHA: Japanese rider Hikari Okubo yesterday sealed the Asian Dream Cup title after picking up 14 points in two races of the sixth and final round of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at Losail International Circuit.
Okubo finished the season with 196 points from six races, ending the ARRC title race ahead of compatriot Hiroki Ono who picked up 23 points from yesterday’s two rounds.
Australia’s Joshua Hook - who won race 2 - ended the season in third spot overall with 158 points from six rounds.
Earlier in the day, Mohamed Asharfa Razali won race 1 with a time of 18:05.562 over 7 laps across the 5.38km circuit.
Thailand’s Kanatat Jaiman (18:05.702) finished race 1 in second spot, whereas, Indonesia’s Iswandi Muis (18:05.703) ended in third spot.
Hook won race 2 with a time of 18:00.916. The Australian rider edged Muis (18:01.130) to the top spot.
Ono - who finished race 1 in 9th spot - ended race 2 in third place with a time of 18:01.150.
In the Underbone 115cc class, Malaysia’s Mohammed Amirul Ariff Musa won both the races to end the season in second place overall.
Musa picked 50 points to close gap on championship winner Hadi Wijaya.
Musa - who clocked 18:32.635 and 18:26.461 in the two races respectively yesterday - ended the season with 165 points from six rounds.
Yahama rider Wijaya of Indonesia had sealed the championship after the fifth round.
Wijaya - who finished both the races yesterday in 9th spot - ended the 2012 season with 222 points. Reynaldo Ratukore of Indonesia ended the season in third spot with 161 points.
Ratukore - riding a Yamaha - ended race 2 in second spot (18:26.486).
In race 1, Ratukore finished in 10th spot.
Honda rider from Malaysia Mohamed Affendi Rosli (18:26.526) ended race 2 in third spot.
In race 1 of Underbone 115cc, Norizman Ismail (18:32.765) finished behind winner Musa who clocked 18:32.635.
