Doha: Qatar Creates has announced a series of public discussion panels under its Qatar Creates Week activities, which started yesterday and will continue until October 29.
Featuring renowned figures from the local and international arts scene, including H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, along with acclaimed art practitioners, industry experts and patrons, the conversations will highlight a variety of perspectives exploring the impacts of art on culture.
The panels will be hosted at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), Liwan Design Studios and Lab, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and M7, covering diverse topics on the interaction between heritage, art, geography, society and politics.

Yesterday, panel discussion on Art For Tomorrow Talks: Art in the Desert: Location, Location, Location!, Art(ice) and the Environment, and From Flour to Art: Artists’ Commissions in the Art Mill Museum 2030 exhibition were held at MIA.
Happening today are: “The Stories They Tell,” 10am at Mathaf Atrium; Designer Encounters x EMERGE Panels: The New Stars: A Discussion on how their Vision has Changed the Global Fashion Landscape and Craft Creativity & Identity; An Exclusive insight into the Inner Workings of the Creative Process, 1pm at M7, Scale; Design Encounters: Interiors and Architecture: Widening the Lens, 3.30pm, also at M7, Scale.
Tomorrow: Art for Tomorrow Talks: Museum of the Future: Between Aesthetics and Social Responsibility will be from 3pm at MIA Auditorium.
October 27 talks are: Emerge Panel: Developing Alternative Industries: The Power of Creativity in Business, from 11am at NMoQ; Open Market; Exploring Business Opportunities between Africa, the Middle, East and the World, from 11.45am; Global Catalyst: Transforming the World through Impact, from 12.30pm; and Curators’ Opening Talk: On the Move - Reframing Nomadic Pastoralism, from 5pm. All panel talks will be held at NMoQ.
Liwan Sessions: Teaming Up: Sports and Public Art, from 7pm, happening on October 27 at Liwan. And on October 28: Maison Valentino: An Ode to Roma, from 3pm at MIA.
In line with Qatar National Vision 2030’s goal of strengthening artistic exchange and promoting intercultural dialogue, the discussion series will set the stage for a captivating and essential dialogue on society and the arts.
