Doha: Al Sadd and Al Wakrah will clash in a mouth-watering Group A match today, with both teams seeking points after contrasting starts at the Ooredoo Cup last week.

While Al Sadd will enter the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium after thrashing two-time defending champions Al Sailiya 4-0 in their opening match, Al Wakrah will look to bounce back after being shocked by Qatar SC in the first round.

Al Wakrah had defeated Al Sadd 2-1 when the two sides last met at a QNB Stars League (QSL) match earlier this month. However, Al Sadd will look to continue their winning momentum as they bid to regain the Ooredoo Cup title.

Meanwhile, Qatar SC and Umm Salal will aim for second consecutive win when they face off at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium, today.

Umm Salal also got off to a winning start when they edged Al Ahli in their opening match.

Al Sailiya and Al Ahli will meet in today’s first match at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium, with both teams seeking their first victory of the tournament.

Al Sadd lead Group A on a goal difference followed by Qatar SC and Umm Salal.

Meanwhile, the Group B matches will be played tomorrow with Al Duhail seeking to retain their top place in the group.

The Red Knights, who trounced Al Markhiya 8-3 in their first match, will face Al Arabi challenge at Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium tomorrow.

Al Arabi – the current QSL leaders – also got off to a winning start after a 1-0 win over Al Shamal last week.

In first match at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium tomorrow, Al Rayyan and Al Markhiya will aim to open their account after suffering defeats in their previous matches.

Al Rayyan were edged by Al Gharafa 3-4 in an exciting match.

Al Gharafa will take on Al Shamal at the same venue later tomorrow.
