DFI Cinema: ‘Long Day’s Journey into Night'

The Doha Film Institute presents ‘contemporary releases’, a selection of the latest internationally and regionally acclaimed films. The series will include recent festival favourites, as well as the emerging new voices of DFI granted filmmakers. This weekend’s screening will be Long Day’s Journey into Night.
Film Synopsis:
Luo Hongwu returns to Kaili, the hometown from which he fled several years ago. He begins the search for the woman he once loved, and whom he has never been able to forget. She said her name was Wan Qiwen but never revealed her true identity...
The price for the tickets is QR35.

Classic Cars Exhibition
Doha Festival City has collaborated with the Mawater Centre to bring classic and modified cars for guests to view as part of Festival City’s host of summer activities.
Displayed in different areas of the mall, the exhibit will feature a total of 12 cars, six at the start of the period, and then replaced with another 6 in the second half of the event. Cars on show include the orange Skyline GTR Hakosuka with 4 doors, the Tiffany car, a Skyline GTR 1973 Coupe offering an engine is RP 25 with the same characters as the car in the Fast and Furious movies, which has won national and international awards.
The Porsche 911 Turbo (1992 model) featured in the Bad Boys movie starring Will Smith will also be on display. The Acura NSX Type R model 1992 will be on show while the Skyline GTR V1999 with rise rings top security RP 26 twin Turbo will also be on display among many others.

DJ Marshmello to perform live in Qatar
World renowned DJ and American electronic music producer ‘Marshmello’ will be performing live in Qatar on July 25, as part of Summer in Qatar.
Marshmello is best known for his white bucket mask he wears during shows. There is lot of theories behind his mystery identity.
The concert will take place at Stage 2551 in Qatar National and Convention Centre from 7pm to 11pm.
The price for the ticket ranges from QR275 (General Admission) to QR550 (Premium Admission) and are available online at the Virgin Megastore website and offline at all Virgin Megastore branches.

Hello Kitty Live – Fashion & Friends at QNCC
For the first time ever, fans of all ages will be given the chance to physically enter the world of Hello Kitty as she takes to the stage live and in 3D for this tour of ‘Hello Kitty Live – Fashion & Friends’, the latest development in the continuing evolution of this global super brand.  

This latest Hello Kitty live show is set in modern-day London. Hello Kitty has full of dreams and ambition for her future. But before she can get there, she is faced with a challenge ahead. Luckily Hello Kitty is not alone and with the help of her fantastic friends including My Melody, Dear Daniel and Mimmy, she will take on this amazing opportunity that can change her life forever.

Cricket exhibition
Celebrating the power of cricket, a photography exhibition of the sport is on at Katara where pictures from Qatar-based photographers have been featured. 43 stunning pictures depicting cricket played in the country shows Qatar's landmarks in the background, focusing further on passion, nostalgia, teamwork and social life around this sport.
When: 9am to 9pm until July 28

Islamic Calligraphy
Islamic Calligraphy exhibition titled ‘Multaqa Al-Qulub Wal-Funun: A Gathering of Hearts & Crafts” is ongoing at Katara displaying works by seven Indian artists. The Exhibition will display examples of how Arabic Calligraphy is preserved and practised in India and how iconic symbols of Qatar like the dhow, falcon, oryx and horse are celebrated by artists.
When: 10am to 10 pm until July 30

Infinite Dimensions
55 artworks created by 19 Doha-based artists during their nine-month residency at Doha Fire Station is on at the Garage Gallery. Divided into three sections, each section deals with various themes.

The Fun Studio at Mirqab Mall
Every Friday and Saturday Mirqab mall will be hosting a live taping of the Fun Studio with Qatar TV.
It is a free interactive show for children of all ages and lots of prizes can be won.

The Astronaut
Katara Cultural Village will be screening the movie “The Astronaut” at the Planetarium.
Registration will be done at the entrance of planetarium, movie goers are advised to arrive 30 mins early as the seats will be provided on first come first serve basis.
