The 20th Doha Forum will present high-level participation, including Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is scheduled to open the Forum tomorrow at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
According to the organisers’ website, a prominent collection of speakers, including gov-ernment representatives, min-isters, ambassadors, activists, business leaders, adminis-trators, and academia, would speak at the two-day event.Doha Forum is a global platform for dialogue, bringing together policy leaders to discuss the world’s critical chal-lenges and build innovative and action-driven networks.The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, tweeted: “We look forward to launching the 20th edition of @DohaForum under the kind patronage of H H Sheikh @TamimBinHamad.
Over the years, #DohaForum evolved into a global platform for diplomacy, dialogue & development, becoming an arena to discuss solutions for international challenges.”The 2022 theme ‘Trans-forming for a New Era’ world recovers from the most extensive disturbance to the global economy since World War 2.
This year’s event will be held in attendance for the first time since the pandemic, making it a real opportunity for candid dialogue between various sectors to reach viable solutions to global challenges.
Discussions will focus on geopolitical alliances and inter-national relations, financial system and economic devel-opment, defence, cyber and food security, climate change and sus-tainability.
Organisers cited the over 200 million COVID-19 cases worldwide, the millions of deaths recorded and the lives affected as a substantial reason for pol-icies and actions to save lives and avoid permanent economic, social, emotional and mental damage.
The growing influence of China and Russia in Asia, Africa and Latin America, the European Union’s struggle to keep its pol-itics together and the state of global politics will also form integral parts of the discussions.
Sessions will include The Climate Conversation: Climate financing -- Kigali, Rwanda, Transforming for a New Era, Mis-information and the War for Truth, Post Pandemic Africa, Lit-igation to Enforcement: Mobilizing the Rule of Law in Response to the Climate Crisis, Energy Transition and Security: Meeting Demand in a Volatile World, A Clean Future for Natural Gas, Afghanistan and the Question of Representation and One-on-one with Hassan Al Thawadi and many more.
Doha Forum last convened in Doha in December 2019, bringing together 243 speakers, 142 nationalities, 300 media personnel, alongside more than one hundred bilateral meetings.
