Thousands are expected to take part in the fifth edition of The Color Run tomorrow in Qatar. The Color Run, being one of the most anticipated events in Qatar’s calendar, organisers expect to see the highest number of participants.
Like in every year, a portion of each entry will be donated to Educate A Child, which works to reduce number of children out of school globally, according to organisers of the event.
The Color Run also known as the ‘Happiest 5k on the Planet’ is presented by Sahtak Awalan: Your Health First, the flagship public health campaign of Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q).
The Color Run is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, and individuality.
Now the largest running series in the world, The Color Run has been experienced by more than 6 million runners worldwide in more than 35 countries.
It has raised over $5m globally for charity, since 2012.
The Color Run attracted a record-breaking 9,000 young and adult participants last year in Qatar.
“We have been in Qatar for five years and each year it continues to connect people as we see more and more people participating ,” said Christian Moufarrej, Senior Director, IMG Events the organiser behind event.
“The Color Run caters to everyone — first time runners to seasoned athletes. More than half of our participants are first-time 5K runners. The Color Run is proud to be a catalyst that inspires our participants to live a more active lifestyle, on top of having fun,” said Christian Moufarrej.
The Color Run will begin at Qatar National Convention Center tomorrow. Color Runners will be doused from head to toe in brightly coloured powders at 1k intervals as they make their way around the course, before celebrating completion with friends and family at the Color Run Finish Festival.
“With tickets almost being sold out already, we are ready our largest Color Run ever,” Moufarrej told The Peninsula.
The 2019 Color Run will feature Super Zone and the Foam Zone, in which participants can enjoy being covered with bubbles blown from foam machines.
“The Super Zone invites Color Runners to soar to new heights as they are doused in color in front of our backdrop skyline. It makes for the perfect profile photo. Our Foam Zone is 15m and allows runners to enjoy bubbles and foam on the course,” said Moufarrej.
