Washington: US planes have destroyed an estimated 283 oil trucks of ISIS organization near the border between Syria and Iraq, Pentagon said Tuesday.
U.S. war planes have destroyed 283 fuel tankers that were being used to transport oil to help fund the Islamic State group in eastern Syria, officials say. The strike was carried out by A-10 Warthogs and AC-130 Specter Gunships.
In his statement today, Pentagon spokesman Jeff Davis said "We have very methodically gone through this to ensure that we are doing this in a way that is humane and not going to cause civilian casualties."
To limit civilian casualties, the US dropped leaflets over the tankers before the attack that said "run immediately or you will be killed," the officials told NBC.
U.S. will intensify launching of oil positions that subject to the organization, U.S. military spokesman in Iraq, Steve Warren, said.
The Pentagon said earlier that the US-led coalition against ISIS has destroyed 116 oil trucks utilized by the organization in east of Syria.
