DOHA: The ‘Sustainable Strategic Plan-2018-22’ of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment will focus especially on food security, environment, hygiene, waste management and recycling.
The new plan will also focus on increasing landscaping and number of parks. Assistant Undersecretary for General Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities and Environment, Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani (pictured), said that the Ministry’s departments will start implementing the objectives and projects of its various sectors in accordance with the priorities set by the strategy.
Al Thani was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of the Sustainable Strategic Plan yesterday.
He explained that the six strategic sectors included in the plan are followed by 44 departments in the ministry and eight municipalities each with indicators and performance cards and specific procedures and methodology in the implementation process.
He noted that the inauguration of the strategic plan by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister underscores the state’s interest in providing services to citizens and residents.
“The Planning and Quality Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment will ensure that periodic reviews are carried out within given time frames to ensure the proper implementation of the plan through identifying the strengths and weaknesses based on the data collected to determine the level of achievement,” said Zafer Mohammed Al Hajri, Director of the Department.
He said that the operational plans of all departments were developed through the arrangement of strategic priority projects and key performance indicators to follow up the performance of the strategic plan regularly.
Under sustainable strategic plan-2018-22 the Ministry of Municipality and Environment aims at improving the living standards of people by developing smart city systems, establishing facilities for excellent service, and reducing the negative impacts of urban and economic growth and natural resource management to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.
The plan will also focus on increasing the self-sufficiency by expansion of the local production of agricultural and food commodities and products.
