Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has launched ‘Back-to-School’ campaign under the slogan “My School is My Second Home.”
It will start its activities on August 24 and continue until August 29.
This annual campaign is organised by the Ministry in cooperation with Karwa and supported by the Mall of Qatar. It targets all students of public and private schools.
The campaign includes programmes supervised by the Public Relations and Communication Department. The most important activity is the small media section, which is a mental activity based on asking various questions in different subjects to retrieve essential information.
This is to prepare children and motivate them to return to learning with their classmates. The “Read My Story” activity aims to develop children’s linguistic abilities and encourage them to read.
The campaign also includes various recreational activities, and educational games, in addition to the presence of a volunteer trainer in the field of sports and physical activity.
The campaign will be held in the promotional lobby of the Mall of Qatar on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4pm to 9pm and on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm.
The campaign aims to prepare the children for the new school year.
Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Omar Al Naama met with principals of private schools and kindergartens virtually, to review preparations before the start of the new academic year 2023-24. He held eight meetings during the past week with 355 schools and kindergartens.
Al Naama thanked private schools and kindergartens for their efforts during the past academic year, wishing them to continue providing a stimulating educational environment for students.
Al Naama also emphasised the main axes that the school is required to follow up and verify, starting with the readiness of school buildings and facilities, maintenance procedures, and checking the safety of devices and tools and their availability.
He noted the need to educate the school community about all important information, laws, regulations and circulars, to ensure that everyone is aware of them and adheres to them.
Al Naama also emphasised on maintaining professional ethics and the necessary duties of the entire school community, as defined by the ethical charter, which includes the responsibilities of school owners, principals, employees, teachers, students, parents, and councils of all kinds.
Al Naama stressed the need for school principals to publish all circulars and regulations to all members of the school community to ensure a smooth start to the academic year without any obstacles or difficulties.
He said that schools and kindergartens need to follow the policy of compulsory subjects, guidelines for all teachers, and procedures for checking educational and support resources according to regulations specified in this regard.
