It was a pleasant surprise for many social media enthusiasts yesterday when responding to a polite challenge Ooredoo donated 2,000 prepaid recharge cards for migrant workers for free.
On his twitter account, Hamad Mjeghir had asked Ooredoo on April 17 that how many re-tweets Ooredoo wanted for its official tweets in exchange of 1000 free recharge cards of QR10 value. The prepaid cards, he said, would be distributed for free among workers to contact their families back home.

بدون ريتويت بنوفر لك 2000 بطاقة تعبئة هلا قيمة كل منها ١٠ ريال.. فالخدمة المجتمعية جزء أساسي من هويتنا#Ooredoo
Oordeoo replied on its twitter account that it would donate 2000 recharge cards to Hamad for distribution among migrant workers without availing favour of re-tweets.
“No need of re-tweeting our tweets to get free cards for distribution among workers as public service is essential part of our identity,” Ooredoo said while responding to Hamad’s offer.
Yesterday, in a video message shared on Oordeoo’s official twitter account, Hamad, holding a stack of free prepaid mobile cards said: “Thanks to Oordeoo which accepted my challenge in which I had asked it how many re-tweets it needed to give me 1000 prepaid cards to distribute among workers. In less than six hours, they responded and now have provided me 2000 cards without seeking any re-tweets. Thanks Oordeoo for the public service.”
After watching the video of Hamad, people lauded the generous gesture of Oordeoo and some workers also started asking Hamad for free cards.
