Doha, Qatar: Israel causes further destruction and displacement in Gaza with intense bombing by land and air. Heavy bombardment is also reported in the vicinity of three hospitals in Gaza's Khan Younis, including Nasser Hospital, Al Amal Hospital, and Al Aqsa Hospital.

Eight people were critically injured in an attack on a school in Khan Younis, according to recent reports by Al Jazeera. The school was reportedly sheltering hundreds of displaced Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the official spokesperson for Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari stated that the country's mediation efforts for ceasefire in Gaza are underway ‘round the clock’ with different proposals on the table presented by both sides.

In a press conference held on Monday, he said: “I cannot comment on the details of ongoing negotiations between both sides. Mediation efforts are in full force ... we are exchanging ideas with both sides on the proposals presented.” Read more

[11:22pm Doha Time]  Ministry of Foreign Affairs Official Spokesperson says Qatar 'appalled' by alleged Israeli PM remarks

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Official Spokesperson Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari said today that the State of Qatar was "appalled" by alleged remarks attributed to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in various media reports concerning Qatar’s mediation role.

“These remarks if validated, are irresponsible and destructive to the efforts to save innocent lives, but are not surprising," Al Ansari said on X.

"For months, and following a successful mediation last year that led to the release of more than a hundred hostage, Qatar has been engaged in regular dialogue with the negotiating parties including Israeli institutions, attempting to establish the framework for a new hostage agreement and the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza," he continued.

Al Ansari added that "if the reported remarks are found to be true, the Israeli PM would only be obstructing and undermining the mediation process, for reasons that appear to serve his political career instead of prioritizing saving innocent lives, including Israeli hostages."

"Instead of concerning himself with Qatar’s strategic relations with the United States, we hope Netanyahu decides to operate in good faith and concentrate on the release of the hostages," the MoFA Official Spokesperson concluded.

[3:09pm Doha Time] WHO: Seven out of 24 hospitals ‘partially operating’ in northern Gaza

The World Health Organization says that seven out of 24 hospitals are “partially functioning” in northern Gaza, and are suffering from a shortage of personnel and supplies.

These hospitals are “without enough specialised medical staff to manage the volume and range of injuries, nor sufficient medicines and medical supplies, fuel, clean water, or food for patients or staff”, WHO said in a statement.

The organisation delivered 19,000 litres of fuel to al-Shifa Hospital on Tuesday, after facing delays at the checkpoint and severely damaged roads.

“Essential services such as basic laboratory and radiological facilities remain operational, along with emergency care, a surgical unit with three operation theaters, post-operative care, and a dialysis unit,” the statement said, adding that the hospital’s primary oxygen plant has been destroyed.

[2:45pm Doha Time] More than 625,000 students are deprived of education in Gaza

As the world celebrates the International Day of Education, the Israeli occupation has deprived more than 625,000 students in the Gaza Strip of education.

At least 4,551 students have been killed mostly in the Gaza Strip and in the occupied West Bank, and 8,193 others wounded, the Palestinian ministry of education said.

The Israeli bombardment on the Gaza Strip has affected 90 percent of government schools and educational buildings. According to UNRWA, all of its schools in the Gaza Strip have closed, depriving 300,000 children of education.

[1:11pm Doha Time] Thousands died over lack of first aid supplies in Gaza

The civil defence team in the Gaza Strip says the absence of primary medical aid supplies has led to the deaths of thousands of Palestinians.

It also pointed out lives and safety of children in shelter centres are threatened because of the cold weather and prevailing poor conditions.

The policy of targeting populated centres continues on a daily basis in the Gaza City area and elsewhere in the north, the emergency services added.

[9am Doha Time] MSF: ‘Too dangerous’ to evacuate thousands from Nasser Hospital

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) says it’s “deeply concerned for the safety of the people” trapped inside Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza.

“They must all be protected and allowed to leave if they wish,” the medical group wrote on X.

MSF earlier reported several streets in Khan Younis city, including where Nasser Hospital is located, received orders to evacuate from the Israeli army.

The group warned it’s impossible to evacuate the “thousands of people” inside the facility as nearby roads are “inaccessible or too dangerous” because of battles between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters.

[8am Doha Time] Norwegian FM calls for ‘radical step-up of humanitarian efforts’ in Gaza

Speaking at the UNSC meeting on the situation in the Middle East, Espen Barth Eide reiterated Norway’s call for a “sustained and enduring humanitarian ceasefire” in Gaza.

Regarding humanitarian efforts, the Norwegian foreign minister said, “We cannot only count trucks.”

“We call for a radical step-up of humanitarian efforts, not only volumes,” he said. “We also must look at the content, the efficiency, the access [of humanitarian aid] throughout the whole territory of Gaza. And we must improve coordination.”

Eide also called for a “political track” towards Palestinian statehood.

“Norway recognises the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to have their own state. Not only in theory, but also in practice,” he said.
