Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, announced that this year would witness the launch of the 3rd round of European Language Day activities, in cooperation between Public Diplomacy Katara Centre and the embassies of both the European Union and European countries in Qatar.
This was announced during a press conference held in Katara, with the presence of Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara and President of the Global Public Diplomatic Network, and Maryam Al Saad, CEO of Katara Public Diplomacy Center and Secretary-General of the Global Public Diplomacy Network. The event was also attended by their Excellencies Dr. Cristian Tudor, Ambassador of the European Union in Qatar, the Spanish Ambassador, Javier Carbajosa, the Romanian Ambassador, Daniel Tanasi, the Ambassador of Moldova, Iulian Grigoriță, and Christine Vasen, Head of the Department of Culture, Commercial Affairs and Press in Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the State of Qatar.
Prof Dr. Al Sulaiti, said in his speech: “The two tours launched by Katara, in cooperation between the Katara Centre for Public Diplomacy, the European Union, and the embassies of European Union member states on the European language, achieved positive results and received good feedback from the public, who expressed their appreciation for organizing such a wonderful event in Katara, and explained that these activities contributed to introduce new cultural experiences and expand understanding between nations and exchange between cultures.”
For her part, Al Saad confirmed: “This year will witness the inauguration of the 3rd round of European language activities in cooperation between KPDC and the embassies of both the European Union and European countries”, stressing that the centre’s keenness to hold European language activities arises from its belief in the importance of understanding and communication between nations and cultures.
She added that the centre’s continued hosting of these events aims to contribute to creating a new opportunity to discover European cultural heritage that combines arts, languages, and cultures.
For their part, Their Excellencies the ambassadors and diplomats participating in the press conference expressed their happiness with the success achieved by the European language activities through its previous two rounds, valuing the existing cooperation between their embassies and KPDC.
They explained that the European language activities, which included a range of cultural and linguistic activities, contributed to the effective promotion of European languages, as a tool for enhancing cultural diplomacy and a gateway to achieving common understanding.
Moreover, they also stressed their intention to continue participating in European language activities in cooperation with KPDC, to contribute to strengthening friendship, and communicating between Qatari culture and the cultures of European countries, and introducing the public to European cultures and their rich history and cultural heritage.
