The strategically located Al Sudan Bus Station operates 22 buses per hour and transports 1,750 passengers in a day.
The bus station is equipped with electric charging equipment, as part of the strategy of switching to electric vehicles.
It is equipped with necessary electric charging equipment for optimal operation, said a post by the Ministry of Transport on its Twitter handle. Built over an area of 65,216 sqm, Al Sudan Bus Station has seven bus bays that can operate 22 buses per hour, distributed on 4 routes with a total capacity of 1,750 passengers per day, to reach seven destinations, particularly the metro stations and bus stations located within a close range.
Al Sudan Bus Station is strategically located near the Sudan Metro Station and Al Sadd SC southwards. The western side of the station neighbours the Aspire Zone, Villagio Mall and the Torch Tower.
The bus station was inaugurated in November 2021 as part of the Public Bus Infrastructure Programme which aims at creating an integrated and sustainable public transit network to cover all urban areas through a coherent transportation that includes public transit buses, the Doha Metro and the Lusail Tram.
The Ministry of Transport earlier said that the Public Bus Infrastructure Programme consists of eight bus stations in Al Sudan, Msheireb, Al Gharrafa, Lusail, Al Wakra, Education City, Industrial Area, and West Bay Central, and four bus depots in Lusail, the New Industrial Area, Al Wakra, and Al Rayyan.
All these facilities are supported with over 650 charging stations for e-bus operations.
The programme also includes four Park and Ride parking locations in Al Qassar, Al Wakra, Lusail, and Education City, in service of public transit users. The programme also featured development of more than 2,300 bus stops in and outside of Doha City, designed in accordance with highest world standards and technology.
The programme lays the foundation for a full transformation to an electricity-powered transit system that is clean and eco-friendly, using latest technologies, with a view to providing the best services in a fashion that support sustainable development.
