There is alot happening this weekend in Qatar from Color Run to Cultural Diversity Festival. We have made a list of the best ones for you.

Fifth edition of Color Run

The fifth edition of Color Run presented by Sahtak Awalan: Your Health First, a flagship public health campaign by Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q), takes place at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The 5km run brings with it the new Hero Tour theme and encourages all Color Runners to unleash their inner super hero.

The Color Run is the largest running series in the world, where runners are covered with a different color throughout the course.

It finishes with a super-charged Finish Festival including a DJ, MC and plenty of games and activities for all.

The Color Run 2019 will have a new Super Zone. All participants will receive a cape in their race pack and for the first time ever will be given a Medal at the finish line.

‘The Beacon of Knowledge and Light’ festival

Qatar Foundation is to host the second edition of ‘The Beacon of Knowledge and Light’ festival in the Minaretein building in Education City.

The event is open for the public and, through a variety of activities, it aims to provide an opportunity for the whole community to come together and learn about Islam and Islamic history.

Activities include designing ceramic tiles, architectural tours, and giving children the opportunity to see who can build the tallest minaret using everyday items such as balloons and tape.

As part of the festival, a number of Islamic scholars and guest lecturers will participate in the event, with Sheikh Omar Farouq Alrahmany set to deliver the Jummah (Friday) prayer.

Katara Cultural Diversity Festival

This weekend will feature folkloric shows from Palestine and Singapore.

The festival features an array of cultural performances from different nations around the world and aims to act as bridge between cultures and provide a multicultural harmonious environment.

The festival is free for everyone.

Go Gaucho

Residents of Qatar will get to experience an authentic Argentinian dance of showmanship by the Argentine horseman, known as the gaucho.

Qatari artist opens solo expo at Fire Station

Twenty artworks by Qatari artist Ahmed Nooh, who completed during his three-month residency at the renowned Cité internationale des Arts in Paris, are on display at his first solo exhibition titled Traces of Life which opened at Fire Station Workshop 3.

The exhibition showcases Ahmed’s experimentation of abstracting different materials.

Burning books has historically been a way to condemn social, political and cultural oppositions. Yet, through transfiguring the burnt material, the artist recognizes the value of these books, in hopes of shedding light on reading as a positive aspect of human development.

Shade of Convolution Exhibition

The “Shade of Convolution” exhibition by internationally acclaimed artist Ala Bashir lives up to its name demonstrating a certain complexity that arouses curiosity, provokes deep thought, and sparks debate.

The renowned Iraqi-British painter and sculptor is also a prominent plastic surgeon, but before venturing into the field of Medicine, he was first an artist and admits Medicine had a big impact on him as an artist and as a person.

Hanging on the walls of the two-storey Al Markhiya Gallery are Bashir’s more than 30 paintings that portray human condition in a surrealist fashion.
